Tasting Notes

92
Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Dec 13
(made from fruit grown in Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly; Lot DEG-18-12-12): Light green- gold color. Intensely perfumed aromas of lemongrass, lime zest, quince, smoky minerals and toasty lees. Fleshy orchard fruit flavors are deepened by peach pit and floral tones and braced by a tangy citrus fruit nuance. Fills out on the finish, picking up a note of bitter pear skin and showing excellent mineral-driven persistence and lingering floral character.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
